Recent Club Results
The results from the Lady Captain's Day Stableford competition held Saturday 7 August (prize for the individual best score and a team prize for the best two scores from three) were:
Mens individual - Lee Robson 44pts and Ladies individual Jacqui Harber 44pts
Team Bowmaker winners - Paul Turland, Pat Treacy, Nick Dunn - 90pts
Team Bowmaker runners up - Lee Robson, Sue Silto, Clive Phillips - 88pts
The Lady Captain's two daughters, Joanne and Collette did a great job in supporting Carol on the day.
In the International Pairs on Saturday 31 July, Lee Robson and Chris Murray won with a 4 BBB score of 62, runners up were Paul Turland and Lee McGouran on 64 ocb from 4 other pairs. The winners will represent the club in the Regional Final.
On Saturday 24 July we held a Help the Heroes event organised by our Club Captain Gerry Hall and our ladies Vice Captain Rosie Law which raised over £800 for this worthy charity. The top 10 Stableford scores are added together to give us a club score which is sent to the national organizers with the top 6 teams meeting for a regional event. The Mens results were 1st – Tom Law (one of our up and coming juniors) nett 62 playing off 12 (74 – 12 – 62), 2nd – Dave Knight nett 64 (ocb) off 20 (84 – 20 – 64), 3rd – Iain Clark nett 64 playing off 4 (68 – 4 - 64). The Ladies Stableford Help the Heroes results were 1st – Jo Ferrier 41 points, 2nd Rosie Law 39 points and 3rd Kay Hall 36 points
On Sunday 25 July we held a 2 Division medal, results were:
Division 1: 1st – Steve Hester 74 – 11 – 63, 2nd – Mitchell Thomas 71 – 5 – 66
Division 2: 1st – Ben Karn 87 -24 – 63, 2nd – Az Azhar-ul-Haq 85 – 20 -65
In the Monthly Medal on Sunday 18 July the Division 1 winner was Steve Ballard with 72 - 04 = 68 and the runner-up was Lee Robson 74 - 06 = 68 ocb. In Division 2 there was a great result for 11 year old Matthew Hibbs who scored an amazing 74 - 12 =62, Matthew was very excited about his round and now plays off 10, a great achievement. Runner-up was Karl Little with 78 - 11 = 67. The honors in Division 3 went to Gary Anderson for his 89 - 26 =63 and the runner-up was Richard Tomlin 88 -21 =67.
The Captain’s Day Cup was held on Saturday 10 July, there was a massive field of just over 200 players, the first tee time 6.00am and the last 3.20pm. In the Mens Competition there was some remarkably low scoring with two players shooting nett 61’s:
1st John Glass 76 – 15 = 61 ocb, 2nd Jeremy Thomas – 81 – 20 = 61, 3rd Santino Vitale 67 – 03 = 64, 4th Colin Farr 77 – 11 =66, 5th Sam Matton 64 + 2 = 66 , Sam who recently won the Club Championship, scored the best gross of the day.
In the Ladies competition, our Lady Captain, Carol Sear came first with a nett 66 (88 – 22 = 66) and the runner-up was Theresa Healy with 81 – 11 = 70. The best junior score came from Mitchell Thomas 74 – 06 =68. The Past Captain’s Cup went to Geoff Hayward for his 75 – 08 = 67. Our Captain, Gerry Hall, put a tremendous amount of effort into the event and has raised £4,000 for his nominated charity, the Starlight Childrens Foundation.
