Handicap Information
- To obtain a handicap you must submit 3 cards, one of which must be marked by a committee member of BMGC Ladies Section. To assist you in getting your cards marked, please contact Vanessa Evans, who will arrange partners for you. It is a good way of getting to know other members.
- If you are a member of another club, you must allocate one as your 'home' club for handicap purposes.
- Handicaps are allotted and altered in accordance with the Ladies Golf Union regulations and procedures.
Competitions
- The Competition book in the Ladies Changing room MUST be signed BEFORE playing in all competitions apart from Open and Mixed Events. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
- Drawn Events are competitions where an entry sheet is posted on the board and tee times and partners are allocated by the committee. The following information should be noted:-
- If your name is not on the board by the closing date and you want to play in the competition you should contact the Competition Secretary, who may enter you as a reserve.
- If you have entered a Drawn Event and cannot play on the day of the competition, then you MUST contact the Competition Secretary or another committee member, otherwise you will be disqualified from the next 2 Drawn Events.
- Under no circumstances may you alter the Tee Times or Draw once the Committee has posted up the Order of Play.
Score Cards
- You must enter your Competition Number, date, competition, your name and handicap on the CARD.
- The original card MUST be submitted. If a copy card is written, then this must be submitted together with the original card.
- If you do not agree on the total Gross score, then do not sign the card. Contact the Competition Secretary immediately if there is any dispute.
- You must submit ALL score cards from Qualifying Competitions after play, even 'Nil Returns'.
Extra Day Cards
- From February 2001, ladies with a handicap of 41 to 45 can submit an unlimited number of Extra Day Cards. These will be calculated as Stableford Points and if you have a bad round, you will not go up, but if you have a good round your handicap could be cut. Once you drop below 41, then you cannot go back up.
- No other ladies can submit Extra Day Cards.
Keeping Your Handicap
- From February 2001, ladies are required to submit 3 cards from Qualifying Competitions in order to keep their handicap. At the end of the LGU year (31st Jan 2002) an annual revision will take place and your handicap may be adjusted.
Playing Handicap
- Your Playing Handicap is revised once a month, alterations coming into effect on the 8th of the following month. However, if you have a good round and your handicap is cut, the new rounded figure will come into effect immediately. It is therefore important that you check the handicap list in the changing room each time you play to ensure that you are playing off the correct handicap.
- You must report IMMEDIATELY to your Handicap Secretary any score returned below your Playing Handicap. If you are unable to report a score below your handicap before playing in another competition you must report the score to the organizing committee, who may make an Immediate Reduction. If in doubt, play off a lower alternative.
- You must produce your up to date LGU HANDICAP CERTIFICATE whenever you compete away from your Home Club. Amendments can be made by placing them in the plastic envelopes on the ladies notice board. Computer printed certificates are once again valid as proof of handicap.
Medals
- The Main Medal day is the last Sunday of every month. The Alternative Medal Day is the last Tuesday of every month. Tee times are pre-booked by the committee for the Sundays, but members have to book their own tees for the Tuesdays. You must elect to play on either the Main or Alternative day and stick to this. If you cannot play on your usual day then you must contact the committee to ask permission to change.
County Cards
- These are available each January, from the County Representative. The current cost is £5, which then enables you to play other courses in the County for £10. You can only play each course once per year at the subsidised rate. Full details available from the County Representative.
Prizegiving
- Prizes will either be presented at one of the main Presentation Evenings during the year, or on the actual day of the competition. Watch the notice board for details.
