About Us....
Broome Manor Golf Club is one of the youngest golf clubs in Wiltshire but has established itself as one of the most competitive and successful.
The course, which is operated and owned by Swindon Borough Council, was opened to the public in 1976 and the Golf Club was established a year later. We are proud to say that some of the founder members are still active members of the club and that the Club Championship has been sponsored, since it began in 1978, by Deacons Jewellers of Old Town.
The club is always improving and developing. All four sections (Men, Ladies, Seniors and Juniors) are successful and well supported, and at the start of 2009 we had over 100 single handicap players, a measure of our strength. Our men’s section has had regular success at county level and proudly won the oldest event in Wiltshire County Golf, The Team Shield, in 2006 and retained it in 2007 and 2008.
The club has nurtured and supported a number of individual players who have represented Wiltshire and Great Britain. Four players have reached international level, including David Howell, a European Tour player with a number of European tour victories under his belt, who was also a member of the winning European Ryder Cup Team in 2004 and 2006.
In 2009, the club boasts two members of the England A squad, Miles Mackman, who has been a member of the squad for a couple of years, and more recently Sam Matton.
